About Tracy Dunkley Psychology

I have practised psychology for more than 20 years following completing my Masters in Clinical Psychology at La Trobe University, Bundoora. I have always wanted to work with children and started working in the field of Early Intervention before moving into Child and Adolescent Mental Health at Goulburn Valley Health.
As my experience and career developed, my passion moved from Eating Disorders to Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs), and I spent 7 years as the Coordinator of the public ASD Assessment team.
Following having three children and beginning my own the personal parenting journey I completed more training in parent education and also developed an interest in Infant Mental Health. In 2015 I completed the Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Sciences (Parent - Infant) at the Royal Children's Hospital in conjunction with The University of Melbourne.

My journey with the Circle of Security programs has also informed much of my practice. After completing the COS-P training and running several groups, I have embarked on the journey of becoming an accredited Circle of Security Intensive provider. This program is a 12-20 week program that delivers a more intensive and therapeutic small group program. This process has further honed my 'seeing and guessing' skills and helped me to understand attachment theory in greater depth.
Volunteering for the Australian Breastfeeding Association has been one way that I have brought together my professional and mothering pathways and enabled me to support women to reach their breastfeeding goals.
The longer that I practice, the more I learn about how crucial the infancy period is to the future emotional development of an individual. This together with the experience of parents informs all of my practice. I hope to see infants and children when their difficulties are only just emerging and prevent future mental health disorders.
My other professional passion is Supervision and promoting the development of early career psychologists and professionals who work with children and parents. As such I enjoy delivering education and supervising or mentoring other professionals to help them to reflect on their practice and provide the best support to their clients.

Feedback
"I can't thank you enough for all of the support and mentor-ship you've given me over the last three years. On so many occasions you went above and beyond your all of duty and as a supervisor to help me complete everything as quickly and smoothly as possible!!
Thank you for coming along with me on this unpredictable journey. There were times when I felt like giving up and couldn't see the light at the end of the tunnel and your encouragement and crystal clear focus on the goals were essentially what got me through as a registered psychologist!"
